Space Agency
Governance & infrastructure
The Space Agency is responsible for administration, governance and security of all human-controlled space beyond the major settled worlds, which administer themselves. To this end, the Space Agency maintains several subsidiary agencies to achieve these missions:
- The Space Police: Responsible for law enforcement and safety
- The Futuron science agency: Undertakes scientific research and exploration
- The Space Postal Service: Ensures regular delivery of electronic data vaults between worlds
In addition, the Space Agency maintains surveillance of conditions within its sphere of operations; coordinates and shares data about geological and biological risks and opportunities; plans and prioritizes exploration and colonization; collates intelligence on threats, and coordinates emergency response.
The physical size of its territory is so vast, including thousands of planets and moons, and uncounted numbers of smaller bodies such as asteroids, the Space Agency tends to have a light touch, but like any large organization it can also be very bureaucratic.
